Maths in 2Green
One of our very important values at Koonawarra Public School is 'engagement.' 2Green would like everyone to know that we LOVE engaging in maths. A "hands on" approach to maths at our school makes learning maths fun.
2Green does the TEN program each day after recess to improve our skills in addition and subtraction. The whole class does the same basic activity but each group has variations in that activity according to ability. For example, different types of dice may be used or a different target number may be given.
At other times, our maths groups might include activities such as using mathematics activities on iPads, two-dimensional space tasks (such as making and drawing symmetrical patterns), three dimensional space work (such as drawing the face of objects) and playing mathematical board games.
Mrs. Mooney works three days a week with a group of children to improve their number skills. We thank her for her contribution.
